Navigating Migraines: My Personal Journey and Energetic Healing Techniques
Yesterday, I faced a migraine episode. In the past, these debilitating headaches would knock me out for an entire day, often confining me to a dimly lit room for 24 hours straight. However, thanks to several interventions over the years, the recovery period has decreased to approximately four hours, followed by a lingering “hangover” sensation.
Having dealt with migraines for nearly three decades since childhood, I’ve explored numerous remedies in hopes of finding relief.
A crucial strategy I’ve adopted is recognizing early warning signs — precursors to a severe migraine. Acting during this phase can occasionally prevent the headache from manifesting. While these signs differ among individuals, my initial symptoms include blurred vision — despite my otherwise perfect eyesight — and increased sensitivity to light. Soon after, I notice visual auras, characterized by oscillating lines in my sight.
Following these preliminary indicators, the full impact of the migraine sets in. A peculiar numbing sensation sweeps across my body, often localized to just one side. This can last for hours. Subsequently, I grapple with intense pain and cognitive disarray, making even basic communication an ordeal. It feels as if there’s a disconnect between my thoughts and my speech.
Everyone’s migraine experiences are different. Some might not experience all the symptoms I’ve described, but that doesn’t undermine the intensity of their ordeal.
For me, hormonal shifts, especially during puberty and early stages of pregnancy, play a significant role in triggering migraines. Stress has also been a dominant factor. Instances where anxiety entrapped me in a relentless cycle were often disrupted by a migraine onset. Another lesser-discussed trigger is an overabundance of energy, particularly centered in my upper chakras. Neglecting to ground this energy or overlooking the care of my energetic and physical bodies frequently results in a migraine.
This article aims to spotlight the energetic triggers and remedies for migraines — a subject seldom discussed, especially from the perspective of those directly affected.
In today’s hectic world, we tend to neglect self-care, only to be jolted back to reality by issues like migraines.
Grounding has become a vital daily ritual for me. My go-to grounding techniques include:
Nature Walks: Strolling barefoot on grass or, if unavailable, walking with a grounding intent.
Dietary Choices: Regular consumption of root vegetables, with a particular fondness for potatoes.
Tree Connection: Engaging with trees during walks and expressing gratitude for their indispensable role.
Bathing Rituals: Enhancing my baths with salts, herbs, charcoal, and diatomaceous earth. Additionally, I integrate grounding crystals such as obsidian or tourmaline into the mix. Simplicity is key — even a basic bath can be grounding.
Visualization Techniques: I utilize two primary visualizations. One involves picturing a tree, starting from its leaves and moving down to its roots, visualizing an energy exchange with the Earth. The second involves channeling energy through my body, connecting it with the Earth and the universe. I have both visualizations outlined at the bottom of this article.
Energetic fluctuations on our planet occasionally bring on my migraines, like the one I had yesterday. Adapting to these energy shifts is an individual journey, varying for each person.
I recall an instance within the last year, when I was the beginning stages of a migraine but had a client session lined up. Despite the initial symptoms, I proceeded. The connection took a tad longer, but the session unfolded seamlessly. Astonishingly, the migraine symptoms vanished during the session and didn’t return. During such sessions, I root myself deeply, amplifying the energy channeled from both the Earth and the cosmos. This seemed to act as an energetic reset. It’s worth noting that many healers or readers often find their physical ailments alleviated while performing channeling or energy healing sessions.
On occasions when I can’t counteract a migraine in its early stages, energy work offers solace even if it does not stop it completely. I engage in grounding visualizations and seek my spirit team’s aid. I like to picture a ball of loving light energy sweeping through my body starting at my crown and down to my feet. This ball cleans and pulls the “not beneficial” energy from the body. Pairing this energy work with crystals like black tourmaline, amethyst, and selenite often proves beneficial. Play with what crystals work well with your energy in that moment.
A decade-old remedy I swear by involves immersing my hands in hot water, as hot as I can tolerate. This method provides momentary relief from pain, numbness, and mental fog. The relief’s duration varies among individuals but in my personal opinion, it does not matter how long it lasts as long as there is some releif. Out of all the physical methods I have tried this one works the best and is easy to share with other people.
While I personally am not on medications for my migraines, they remain an invaluable resource for many. Energetic healing and grounding can complement these treatments, offering an holistic approach to relief. Regardless of your current migraine management strategy, integrating grounding practices, energetic healing, and using hot water can enhance your recovery process.
Grounding Visualisations
1. The Tree Grounding Visualization
Begin by closing your eyes and taking a deep breath to center yourself.
Visualize a magnificent tree in front of you. Take a moment to observe its vast canopy, each leaf shimmering in vivid hues. Allow yourself to connect with the tree, feeling the textures of the leaves and branches.
Gradually shift your focus from the canopy and move downwards, traversing the tree’s trunk until you reach its extensive root system.
Visualize these roots extending deeper and deeper into the Earth, anchoring the tree firmly. As the roots delve into the ground, imagine a beautiful exchange taking place at the root tips.
Envision your energy flowing into the tree, traveling down its trunk and merging with the roots. Feel this energy being absorbed into Mother Earth.
As you connect with the Earth, imagine it reciprocating by sending its nurturing energy back through the tree’s roots, up its trunk, and directly into you. Allow this Earth energy to replenish and fuel every part of your being.
2. Crown Chakra Energy Flow Visualization
Begin by finding a comfortable position and taking a few deep breaths.
Focus on the crown chakrs, located at the top of your head. Visualize it gently opening, revealing a portal to the universe (or source).
Feel a warm, white light from the cosmos descending through this portal. This divine energy gently flows down, cascading over your head, neck, shoulders, and continuing through every part of your body. Allow yourself to take as much time as you need to experience this energy enveloping you.
As this cosmic energy reaches your feet, imagine it extending out and connecting with Mother Earth. Visualize this energy either lightly touching the surface or encircling the Earth completely.
Now, feel the Earth’s energy rising, swirling up and around you, enveloping you in its loving embrace. This energy, rich with love and protection, merges with the cosmic energy at your crown chakra.
Visualize both energies — the one from the cosmos and the one from the Earth — coalescing and flowing harmoniously through your body. Remain in this state, absorbing the combined energies, for as long as you feel comfortable.
